Prenatal Multivitamin Complex has been especially formulated for women planning on getting pregnant, for women who are pregnant already and for breastfeeding mothers. During pregnancy vitamins and minerals are needed for maintaining the mother’s health, for supporting the developing baby and to help prevent against birth defects.
Facts to consider:
During pregnancy the body’s need of iron increases; most mothers-to-be do not consume enough iron in their diet to meet this increase, therefore leading to iron-deficiency anaemia. The need for iron is most great during the last three months of pregnancy. Avoiding iron-deficiency anaemia will reduce the risk of preterm delivery, low birth weight and infant mortality. It is also important to consume an adequate amount of vitamin C as it enhances the absorption of iron.
Studies have shown that women who are consuming enough of this B vitamin before conception and during the first 6 weeks of pregnancy, can reduce their baby’s risk of neural-tube defects such as spina bifida. It may also reduce other defects such as cleft lip, cleft palate and certain heart defects. A supplement is strongly recommended as it is known that the body absorbs the synthetic version of folic acid better then the natural one found in foods.

Kale - Kale is a good source of many nutrients, with carotenoids and sulphur rich antioxidants such as sulforaphane and indole-3-carbinol being among the most important.
